The Dorset Wildlife Trust’s Lorton Meadows borders the grounds of the house, so if you’re looking to spend a weekend far away from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life, exploring the grounds is guaranteed bliss. There are plenty of footpaths to explore as well as a footpath/cycle route that borders these areas and leads you directly down to the sea.

Lorton Meadows

Boasting golden beaches and a picture perfect harbour, Weymouth’s beach has been consistently recognised as one of the top ten beach destinations in Europe. An ideal family day out, spend lazy afternoons relaxing on the sand, wander the pretty streets peppered with independent shops or enjoy one of the town’s many cultural attractions.

A popular tourist attraction, the romantic ruins of Sandsfoot Castle are sure to wow. Steeped in history, the castle dates back to 1539 and was completed in 1541, by Henry VIII as an artillery castle. The gardens surrounding the castle have been lovingly tended and there is an on-site café where you can grab a bite to eat and enjoy spectacular sea views.
